From the Office of the Abuna, Catholicos, and Patriarch and the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Bunyoro – Kitara Kingdom

In the name of the Father of Lights, Our Master, Illuminator and Savior, Jesus Christ and the All-Holy Spirit, Amen.

Today, 18 June 2022, we wish a Happy Birthday to Omukama Rukirabasaija Agutamba Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I, who shares his birthday with his esteemed ancestor, Omukama Chwa II Kabalega.

Like his esteemed ancestor before him, he is a champion for his people. He does not, however, battle the colonial aspirations of the British, He fights to free his people from the illnesses of poor health, under-education, and poverty and His Royal Majesty engages in a dedicated mission to help the people of the kingdom today while paving the way for prosperity for the future generations.

His Royal Majesty works to promote the healing of the Kingdom, but also to make certain the people recall battles that have been won by those who came before them; He does this by ensuring the preservation of the monuments and the history of the deeds of his ancestors, so that they are not forgotten and calls upon historians and his people to keep knowledge of the past, burning in the minds and hearts of the people to save the present from forgetting. His Royal Majesty’s honoring of His illustrious ancestor, as the model/patron of a chivalric order and by naming him a National Hero, are just two ways in which he serves his people and preserves helps their history. He is a shining example of a wonderful cultural leader and sovereign in his compassion, wisdom, and compassionate efforts towards the uplift of his people. Let us pray together for the advancement of His work on behalf of the people that He loves.
