From the Office of the Abuna, Catholicos, and Patriarch and the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Bunyoro – Kitara Kingdom

In the name of the Father of Lights, Our Master, Illuminator and Savior, Jesus Christ and the All-Holy Spirit, Amen.

Today, 18 June 2022, we commemorate the birth of the Omukama Chwa II Kabalega, a Royal hero and a National hero who shall always serve as a shining example to all his people.

Resister of Colonizers, Defender of the land of His ancestors and His beloved people. Fighting at home and defiant in exile, even on to his death, for the sake of His people. His Valor and Spirit are remembered today.

Omukama Chwa II Kabalega.

Let him be remembered as a King who never forgot his homeland and people, even though he was forced into exile. He sought to return home until the day of his tragic death. Even decades later, his people remember his bravery and service. It is important that current generations do not forget and work hard to preserve the culture, history, and monuments he left behind. Let us pray together that these words of Holy Scripture inspire us all to work in concert to emulate, support and by the Grace of the All-Holy Spirit, excel at achieving goals that will continue the work of this great man.

Reading from the Book of Psalm

Our ancestors put their trust in you; they trusted you, and you saved them. They called to you and escaped from danger; they trusted you and were not disappointed…… It was you who brought me safely through birth, and when I was a baby, you kept me safe. I have relied on you since the day I was born, and you have always been my God.

~Chapter: 22, Verses: 4 to 7

Reading from the Book of Proverbs

Do not move the ancient boundary Which your fathers have set.

~Chapter: 28, Verse: 22

Reading from the Book of Corinthians

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. Today and each day, Amen.

~Chapter: 10, Verses: 3 to 5
